Fabric & Care Guide
DINGO underwear and swimwear are made from nylon and spandex/elastane blends, built for a second-skin fit that snaps back into shape. Look after them and they'll keep fitting like new for a lot longer.
Always check the care label on your garment first. The tips below are general guidance for nylon and spandex/elastane fabrics.
Fabric
- Compression briefs, thongs and jockstraps: nylon and spandex blend (Max and Sculpt Thongs are 85% nylon / 15% spandex).
- Swim briefs: 80% nylon / 20% elastane.
After every swim
- Rinse straight away in cool, fresh water. Chlorine and salt slowly break down elastane.
- Don't leave them balled up in a hot bag. Lay them out or hang them as soon as you can.
- Let sunscreen soak in before putting your swimwear on, as oils can mark fabric.
- Sit on a towel. Pool edges, rocks and concrete can pill the fabric.
Washing
- Wash cold, by hand or on a gentle cycle, ideally in a mesh laundry bag.
- Use a mild detergent. No bleach.
- Skip the fabric softener. It coats the fibres and reduces stretch and breathability.
- Wash darks together, especially for the first few washes.
Drying
- Never tumble dry. Heat is the fastest way to ruin stretch fabric.
- Dry flat or hang in the shade. Strong direct sun can fade colours.
- Don't wring them out hard. Gently squeeze or roll in a towel.
Rotate your pairs
Elastane needs time to recover between wears, so rotating a few pairs keeps each one in shape for longer. That's where our Loadout Bundles come in.
